As Loghain has branded the Warden's as traitors, you will have to assume that it won't be easy to find many people who are willing to aid you and when a seasoned warrior offers, why not take it?

As your character cen tell Alistair when he objects to let Morrinag tag along: the Wardens have always taken any help they got. Sten is "willing and able", so to speak. Edited by Allerleihrau, 23 February - AM. By Eudaemonium - Tue Feb 23, pm. There is no use for force or intimidation. Second, regarding RP. It is made pretty clear by both Sten and the villagers that Sten did not resist arrest. He simpyl waited for the Templars - which is disquieteneing in itself, seeing as he was surrounded by dead people.

But from my perspective, I tend to look at it like invoking teh right of conscription - youa re conscripting Sten to help you fight the Blight - either as a form fo atonement which he seems moderately interested in doing , or simply to have another pair of hands. You are being pretty pressured into the whole 'saving the world' role, and are pretty short of help as it is.

A good character will, IMO, give him a chance at atonement. I also think it depends on the self-image of your character: for instance, 'do I consider myself strong enough to take this guy out if he gets out of line'. Similarly, why would anyone in their right mind recruit Leliana - who basically appears like a crazy woman with visions covered in blood when you first meet her, and insists that God told her to come with you.

She can obviously fight, and is somewhat loose in the head - which might inhibit your quest. Also Zevran, who tries to kill you, or Shale - who is a giant stone statue that could crush your head at a moment's notice.

The only characters that any fully sane Warden would associate with are Alistair, Wynne and your Dog. Like you said, he is very loyal to his people and I respect him for that. After you make his quest, he starts respecting you and even calls you kadan which is a great compliment for me. The Qunari are A confuse people and hard to understand, maybe because Sten doesn't tell us a lot about them.

I bet in DA2 we'll know more about them. Like Sten said, he panicked and lost control and killed family because he lost the sword. As he said, for the qunari losing the sword is the same as losing the soul, thus calling Asala. Their honor, their pride, their soul, their limb. They are complicated But also an interesting species. I really hope we learn more about them on DA2.

Because to a qunari soldier his sword is his life, that was drilled into his head by the religion and he knows any other qunari would kill him on sight without it. If you believed so deeply that an object was not only your lively hood but your soul you would panic and lose control when you discover it was gone.

In my opinion his character was poorly written in that regard in that he managed to regain himself after he killed the family and then turn him self in, he should of kept attacking all around him until he was forcefully captured and not return to the zen like qunari attitude until you got the sword back for him. The fact that he turned himself in does not fit at all with the beginning of the story. Does he deserve to die?

Not really when it was the fault of his upbringing that he killed those people, that's not to say he should go without punishment though. Sten should be conscripted into the wardens, if he refuses to stay then he should be executed then. It is not right that he is allowed to return home to complete his mission but for some reason the devs didn't give us any option there.

Flurried "he should of kept attacking all around him until he was forcefully captured and not return to the zen like qunari attitude until you got the sword back for him. Yes I also hope we can learn much more about the Qunari in DA2. Having Leliana in your party helps but she isn't required.

Dont kill him Like him in my party as a tank Ask the Rev Mother. She'll let him go. Ilja View Profile View Posts. Proceed as Craftian wrote. Discussion with Sten points to Revered Mother, when you talk about releasing him from the cage. With DA:O, discussions tell as much than entries.

Sometimes even more. Lyra View Profile View Posts. This includes Alistair becoming king of Ferelden at the end of Origins and Sten returning home after the events of Origins to become the new Qunari Arishok, their military leader. An earlier Qunari Arishok was introduced in Dragon Age 2 , stranded in Kirkwall and hunting for an ancient Qunari text known as the Tome of Koslun that had been stolen by Dragon Age 2 companion Isabela.

It is possible for the player to avoid dueling the Arishok, but in most cases Hawke ends up battling him to the death, which Those Who Speak also accepts as part of its premise. Alistair is taken to the new Arishok, revealed to be Sten. Although Sten initially treats Alistair with respect, when the young king tries to reason with him the Qunari beats him, and when the trio tries to escape Sten attempts to kill Alistair.
